Beach fun for Newport city centre

All the fun of the seaside will be coming to Newport city centre later this month to mark the end of the school summer holidays.

Newport Now Business Improvement District is organising an urban beach for the August bank holiday weekend.

Complete with buckets and spades, deck chairs, fun photo opportunities, traditional seaside sweet stalls, and exclusive ‘I Love Newport’ sticks of rock, the Life’s A Beach event will provide fun for all the family.

The beach will be open from 10am to 5pm on Saturday, August 26, and Sunday, August 27, and will be situated in John Frost Square.

Newport Now BID manager Kevin Ward said: “We felt there was a gap in the Newport events calendar at the end of the school summer holidays.

“Bringing the seaside into the city centre for a weekend is a fantastic way to mark the end of the holiday season.

“Children will love the beach, and there will be some surprise entertainment over the weekend for all the family.”

Life’s A Beach is the latest in a series of city centre events organised or funded by Newport Now BID.

The event is being funded by the Newport Now BID and delivered by Yellow Bus Events and Orchard Media. The South Wales Argus is Newport Now’s media partner for Life’s A Beach.
