BID members can enter Monmouthshire Business Awards

WE have been asked to remind Newport Now BID members they are eligible to enter this year’s Monmouthshire Business Awards.

The geographical area for this year’s awards has been expanded to include the ‘old Monmouthshire’ – towns and cities that were part of the county prior to 1965.

Organisers have been turning entries away in recent years because they did not come from the current Monmouthshire local authority area.

So this year’s awards have gone ‘back to the future’ with entries accepted from businesses in Monmouthshire, Newport, Caerleon, Cwmbran, Ebbw Vale, Usk and Caerphilly.

MBA director and founder Mrs Harris said: “We’ve also expanded the categories to reflect the complexity of the wider business area.

“We think these changes will make the awards even more special. We are all about helping businesses achieve recognition.

“We’ve already had more applications than ever before.”

Award categories this year are:

  • Excellence in Innovation
  • Young Apprentice of the Year
  • Young Entrepreneur
  • Company of the Year
  • Excellence in Marketing
  • Hospitality, Travel and Tourism
  • Excellence in Small Food and Drink Producers
  • Best Small Business
  • Excellence in Manufacturing
  • Excellence in Export and International Trade
  • New Business Start-Up

Entries close on July 31, and full details of how to enter are available at

The awards ceremony and gala dinner takes place at the Celtic Manor Resort in Newport on October 6.
