Pride in the Port is looking to bring together businesses across Newport city centre to create a full programme of events for Pride Month this June.

The group's aim is to showcase the city as an inclusive, welcoming place for all — while also boosting footfall, encouraging community engagement and promoting local businesses in a positive and visible way.

Is your business planning any events or offers for Pride Month?

This could be anything from a themed menu, Pride-themed window display, or live performance, to a pub quiz takeover, fundraiser, or community initiative. The group would like to include everything in a city-wide Pride Month programme, which it will be promoting across its platforms, networks and print materials.

This is a great opportunity to:

  • Celebrate LGBTQIA+ inclusion and visibility in our city

  • Attract new customers and visitors throughout June

  • Demonstrate Newport’s community spirit and shared values

The group is also welcoming wider support — whether through sponsorship, fundraising activity, or donated items for its community raffle — all of which help keep Pride in the Port’s events inclusive, accessible and engaging for everyone.

To help businesses get involved, Pride in the Port has also created a one-page guide with event suggestions (see above).

The group will include the logo of every organisation collaborating with it alongside their address and details of their Pride Month events in the final programme.

If any BID members would like to get involved but aren’t quite sure where to start, they’re very welcome to get in touch. One of Pride in the Port's events team will be happy to support them with ideas and guidance.

Businesses can reach Pride in the Port via hello@prideintheport.wales. As a volunteer-led team, responses may take a little longer during peak periods, but they will always do their best to get back promptly.

To participate in our guide, Pride in the Port will need the name of the event, the venue/organisational logo, the address, a short summary of the event and any associated costs. The provisional deadline for submission is May 9.
